The first, Christchurch Harbour and Spa Hotel 
has fantastic views across the harbour towards Mudeford Quay and the fabulous Mudeford Sand Spit Beach Huts, which can be reached by ferry. This is the best of Mudeford hotels and has two top quality restaurants, the Upper Deck and The Jetty. The Upper Deck is our favourite restaurant in the area. There is an indoor pool, fitness centre, spa and wellness centre, family rooms. It is a perfect location if you want a hotel near to Mudeford Quay. Nearby, there is a number of friendly pubs in walking distance, The Ship In Distress and The Nelson Tavern, plus The Haven House on Mudeford Quay.

The second is the Captains Club & Spa Hotel which overlooks the River Stour at the top end of Christchurch Harbour. With lovely walks across the Quomps down to Christchurch Town Quay. A seasonal ferry is available to take you to Mudeford Quay and the sand spit.
Captain's Club Hotel & Spa has a spa and wellness centre with a hydrotherapy pool and a sauna, family rooms and facilities for disabled guests. They have dog friendly rooms in designated suites as well as dog friendly areas in the bar lounge. It is a perfect location if you want a hotel near to Mudeford but closer to what's on offer in Christchurch.

The third hotel near Mudeford is the superb Kings Arms Harbour Hotel in Christchurch, opposite Christchurch Castle ruins. This hotel in in the heart of Christchurch and benefits from being minutes walk to the Town Quay, Christchurch Priory and the host of restaurants and bars. The restaurant at The King's Arms Hotel is very good, we've dined there many times and each time we have been impressed.
The King's Arms Harbour Hotel, Christchurch has free parking, luxury rooms, and guests can use the facilities at it's sister hotel, Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Spa.

The first is The Retreat at Hinton. This was previously known as East Close Hotel and has undergone a major refurbishment and is getting excellent reviews, especially for the onsite restaurant 'Colin Nash at The Retreat'. Situated on the A35 near Highcliffe and Walkford.
Our second hotel nearby Mudeford is the splendid Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa Hotel, it has an award winning restaurant 'The Dining Room'. This hotel is not far from Mudeford, simply take the Lymington Road through Highcliffe on Sea and head towards Barton.
Third on our list is the Bear of Burton Hotel and Pub. This is a Fullers establishment and was previously known as The Manor. This hotel is a few minutes from Mudeford on the A35, just past Sainsbury's.

Mudeford is a popular weekend break for visitors with most arriving Thursday evening through to Sunday. Guest favourites activities include walks to Hengistbury Head, either from Southbourne or taking the ferry from Mudeford Quay. On the Quay you'll find a fresh fish stall, Haven Cafe and Haven House Inn.
A short stroll eastward from Mudeford Quay you will pass the premium Sandhills Holiday Park and then on to Avon Beach, where you can dine indoors at The Noisy Lobster or eat from their takeaway. Avon beach is the start of the beach huts which go all along the beach up to Friar's Cliff Beach, Beach Hut Cafe and Steamer Point Nature Reserve. We've found this great guide to beach huts. If you're feeling a bit more energetic, then there is a pleasant walk through the Nature Reserve to Highcliffe Castle, then down the zig zag pathway to the beach and on to Highcliffe Beach where you will find The Cliffhanger Cafe and Eatery.
Many holiday makers staying at Mudeford will also hire a beach hut for a day or week on Avon Beach or Friar's Cliff Beach. These are day use only, whereas the beach huts on Mudeford Spit allow overnight stays between April and October. The Beach House Cafe on Mudeford Spit is open every day. There is such a good vibe on the Spit all year round.
There are plans to install saunas at Avon Beach, these should be in place for Spring / Summer 2024.
Car Parks can be found at Mudeford Quay, Avon Beach, above Avon Beach at Avon Run, Steamer Point and at Highcliffe Castle. Public toilets are located at Mudeford Quay (near the Haven Cafe and Ferry), Avon Beach (by the Noisy Lobster), Friar's Cliff (near the Beach Cafe) and at Highcliffe Castle (in the car park). It's a good idea to download the car parking apps such as PayByPhone and RingGo.
